Doors will open for registration at 7:30 am. Attendees can park on site at Marshall Simonds Middle School or across the street at Memorial Elementary School. There will be parking directors Saturday morning to guide attendees.

All guests should bring proof of registration and check in at the lobby. If you have an iPhone, iPad or Android device, you can download the Eventbrite app to expedite the registration process. We will not be providing a paper schedule this year. The schedule can be accessed on any device via SCHED. It is not an app, but a web-based schedule. All attendees will receive an iCon2013 t-shirt provided by School Connect. We cannot guarantee size availability.

If you are a presenter, please let us know at the registration table so we can give you an overview of your room and answer any questions before the presentation time. Every room has VGA connectors, speakers, and a microphone. If you have an Apple computer or an iPad please bring your dongle. If you do not have one, we can provide one during the day.

Coffee will be served Saturday morning and be available throughout the day. We will also be providing lunch for all attendees. Lunch will be provided by b.good and will feature Vegetarian options.

The conference will feature four time slots for sessions and feature an exhibitor showcase throughout the day. Please take some time in your schedule to visit some of our generous vendors. Also, we will offer a collaboration space in our new middle school Library Learning Commons. This is a place for all attendees to visit throughout the day and connect with others, develop an impromptu conversation, or simply process the information you’ve been learning.

Please use #icon2013 throughout the day to share your conference experience via twitter. If you are a presenter, please share your materials via this hashtag. If you take photos throughout the day, please tag them with our instagram account at @i_con2013. Or, you can add photos to our iCon2013 Flickr pool.  The WiFi for the day is open. Please select the iCon wifi on your device. 

Please join us for the closing session of iCon2013 in the MSMS Auditorium. The iCon2013 team will be presenting some great prizes from our generous sponsors. Hub Technical will be giving away a new HP ElitePad as the event’s Grand Prize.

Friday, March 22, 2013 

Time: 9:00 am – 1:00pm

Where: Marshall Simonds Middle School and Burlington High School

What to Expect:

At 9:00 am, Friday morning, we will open the doors to our Middle School and High School. Make sure you arrive at the school you signed up for on Eventbrite. We will be checking in attendees at each school Friday morning. There will be coffee and pastries served at both schools.

Once all attendees are checked in, we will begin a short presentation that details both 1:1 initiatives.  Following the presentation, there will be time for questions and then a short tour of some classrooms.

Time: 7:30am – 4:00pm

What to Expect:

On Saturday, we will open our doors at 7:30 am for registration. Coffee will be provided for attendees.

The remainder of the day will follow the schedule that can be viewed here via SCHED. This schedule displays nicely on all mobile phones and tablets.

Lunch will be provided for all attendees on Saturday by B.Good

Tickets are sold out for our high school visits. We cannot open up anymore tickets at the moment since we are at 75 people. If you cannot make this event and want us to cancel your ticket, please let us know. We will open up a waiting list for this event. As tickets become available, we will release tickets based on the wait list order. This procedure will also happen when the Middle School Visit tickets sell out. At this writing there are 13 tickets left for the Middle School. If you want to register or post to our wait list you can click here or by clicking the red Eventbrite button on the main page.

Again, if you cannot make either day of visits and want us to cancel your ticket, please do so at your earliest connivence so that we can accommodate our wait list.

The official iCon2013 schedule is now live and available to all presenters, exhibitors, and attendees. We are using SCHED for our schedule and you can access the full schedule by clicking here. SCHED boasts a great mobile interface on any tablet or smart phone. If you have an iPhone or iPad you can save the link to your homescreen and it will display the iCon2013 logo. SCHED allows users to log in with Twitter and Facebook, or users can sign up with any email address. Once signed up, users can build their personal conference day schedule.

Due to the high demand for school visits at Burlington High School and Marshall Simonds Middle School the iCon 2013 Organization team has decided to add 25 tickets to each school. This will be the final release for tickets so please register as soon as possible. Also, if you have registered for one of our school visits and cannot make it, please cancel your ticket or get in touch with one of the organizers. If you registered for one of the school visits as your ticket for the general admission conference on Saturday, March 23, please cancel that ticket and register only for the March 23 date. You can access registration via the Eventbrite button in the upper-right hand corner of this page.

School visits will feature a keynote by the BPS EdTech team, members of our Administration, and students. Participants will have time for question and answers as well as a tour of 1:1 classrooms using the iPad. School visits will begin at 9:00 am at each school and run until 1:00pm.

The organizing team that brought you the New England 1:1 Summit, the nation’s first large scale 1:1 conference, is excited to announce iCon 2013. iCon 2013 is a conference that focuses on conversations around how new and current technologies are affecting learning opportunities for our students, not just one device. This is not an iPad conference or a Chromebook conference, but a collection of educators coming together to share their ideas and thoughts on designing and creating innovative learning spaces.

The conference is free for all attendees and we welcome anyone involved in the education world as well as students. The BHS student help desk team will be on hand to answer any technical questions and present their experiences working and learning in Burlington Public Schools.

This year we changed our format to accommodate for school visits at Burlington High School and Marshall Simonds Middle School. Both schools boast 1:1 iPad environments and will open their doors for attendees to observe the iPad in action. This will take place on Friday, March 22 from 9am – 1pm. Saturday, March 23 will be a full day conference at the newly renovated Marshall Simonds Middle School in Burlington, MA followed by a networking social.
